Hot Springs Trail Map [Big Bend National Park]
Hot Springs Historic District and trail, that inspired this map ,was established in the early 1900s by J.O. Langford and what he created was a meeting place for people on both sides of the US/Mexico border. Creating this hand drawn map, I was mesmerized by the still standing post office, hotel and hot springs in this palm tree oasis of the east side of Big Bend National Park. Pictographs, various reptiles, prickly flora and views of Mexico line this desert trail. There’s nothing quite like soaking in the hot thermal pool at the banks of the Rio Grande. This map is a part of a series being created that was inspired by hikes taken at BBNP during an artist residency in Summer 2024.
Artwork Dimensions: 16×20”.
