Barton Creek Greenbelt Mural
Inspired by the abundant and unique environment of the Barton Creek Greenbelt, Emma created a map that pays homage to this loved nature space in Austin. The project was pitched to and funded by Austin Parks Foundation and others. Emma conducted research hikes to gather trail information and species IDs and illustration references. Her work is always research and experience based, all while being thoughtful to create a map with the feeling of being guided on a trail hike by a friend. To cross-reference her research, Emma reviewed her species list with a local ecologist and worked alongside he the UT Bureau of Economic Geology to create an accurate geology chart for the mural. Tacodeli generously refinished their patio wall for the mural to create a permanent location for this first-of-its-kind Austin park map mural. This mural of Barton Creek Greenbelt both guides visitors through the trail system and tells the story of wildlife native to the area. Emma created this mural with the hopes of it being a conversation piece, directional map and homage to this parkland that is a wild nature space nestled in the middle of Austin.
